Lawrence C. "Babe" Albertson, 81, of 12 Center Drive died at 10:45 p.m. Tuesday in Culver Union Hospital. Mr. Albertson retired from the Navy in 1950 after 30 years of service. He served in WWII and the Korean War. He was a member of the President's Commission after WWII and was highly decorated. He was also retired from Sommer Metalcraft Corp and was a member of the Baptist Church and Crawfordsville American Legion. He was active in sports at Crawfordsville HS where he graduated. He was born Sept 16, 1911 at Rowley, Iowa. He married Marian Weliever who died Dec 22, 1985. Survivors include two sons, Bernard and Michael; one sister, Doris Charters of Crawfordsville; 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Burkhart Funeral Home with Rev. Dan Aldrich officiating. Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. Callis from 4-8 p.m. Friday.  - kbz
