LADOGA – John W. Allen, 72-year-old resident of Ladoga, died at 9 p.m. Thursday at his home here. He had been in ill health for approximately nine years. Born May 25, 1893 at Science Hill, Ky., he was a son of George B. and Priscilla Allen. He was married to Ruby Nern at Greencastle in 1950. Mr. Allen had been a farmer all of his life and had attended school in Kentucky. Surviving are the widow; three sons, George of Lafayette, Herschel of Attica and Gene of Oxford; two daughters, Mrs. Wilma Sheppard of Fowler, and Mrs. Helen Skiles of Attica; a step-son, Robert Nern of Boswell; a step-daughter, Mrs. Helen Hall of Boswell; several grandchildren, and five sisters, Mrs. Lela Ware, Mrs. Margaret Vaught, Mrs. Clodia Adams, all of Science Hill, Ky., Mrs. Helen New of Orlando, Fla. and Mrs. Monta Eberle of New Lebanon, Ohio. Fupneral services are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Gephart Funeral Home with Rev. Donald Marshall officiating. Burial will be in Pine Village Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. Friday. – jlr
