To the editor of the Indianapolis News There appeared in your columns on the 27th ult from your correspondent at this place, a letter which contained a criticism of Mr. Critchfield which the temperance people of this place consider does great injustice to that gentleman and they unanimously and utterly repudiate as false and malicious the statement that his lecture was “ a piece of low buffoonery, stale with and clownish mimicry.”

On the contrary, his lectures while they conained a good deal of the humorous, were conceded to be the best we have had in six months and in that time we have held temperance meetings two nights in every week and for three months every night in the week.

As Mr. C. delivered his lectures under the auspices of the Blue Ribbon Club of this place, we as a club, as the insertion of this, not only as a matter of justice to Mr. C, but also in justice to ourselves.
