Sir

About a Month since I received a letter from my
son Lieunt. E. R. S. Canby dated near Little Rock Ark.
informing me that he would "in a day or two" have met
his pay act for the month of July amounting to 79 dols.
As so considerable a time has elapsed and the account
has not came to hand I am not without fear that it
may have been abstracted from the mail. May I therefore
ask you to have the goodness to give this the proper direction
to present the payment of said act, if presented without my
proper signature and if paid furnish me with all the
information in (?) of the which may be useful
detecting the information.

With great respect
Your Obdt. Servt
I. T. Canby
