Dear Sir,

Your letter of 12 (?) is recd.
Were it in my power to assist you in this time of
need I would gladly do so, but my own circumstances
puts the execution of my wished entirely beyond my
control I have not clearly escaped the ravages of
the storm that has passed over this country leaving in
it´s wake the wreck of many a hard earned fortune, I shall
however be able to resusitate my affairs & to fulful in
no distant time all my contracts, And at no distant day I may
be a resident citizen of (?), I wish to hold on to my lots there.

P.S. I sent no provisions last fall, nor}
can I promise any next (this) spring}
