Moody boys shine shoes

A 15-year-old boy is the youngest member of the recently organized E. Main St. Business Men's Association and he was present at the association's first meeting last night in the Muncie Chamber of Commerce building. Sanford Moody, 15 and THomas Moody, 13, brothers, are owners, partners and operators of a shoe shining establishment on the So. side of the street between the Kirby Barbar Shop and Payne's Cafe. Both are pupils at hte McKinley Jr. high School and live with their Parents, Mr. & Mrs. Lewis Moody, of 136 E. North St. The "big" business men paid but little attention to the pair of "little" business men until the time of the frolic. Even then the owners of the two-chair stand were not on any of the donation prospect lists. According to Fred Reasoner, of the Lincoln bank & Trust Co. who was the frolic's treasurer, Sanford called at the bank one day and voluntarily offered $1 toward the expenses. "Business has been pretty good since school closed," said the association's youngest business man last night. "Of course we have only been in business 3 months," he added. When asked how he would operate the stand during school days, he said, "Oh, we'll have to close it during school hours but will be open for business after school and on holidays. I guess then that business won't be so good, but then we'll have to see. It developed that the father of the boys financed the shop and set up his sons in business. A portion of the profits are returned to "dad" to pay him back for the money loaned on the venture. Association members last night declared that they were proud of their youngest member and complimented him on .... (sorry rest is gone)
