Oakley F. KENNEDY, about 65 a
resident of this city most of his life, died Thursday morning at
his home, 1626 Maynard Dr, Indianapolis, according to word
received here by Mrs. Sanford Nutt, 111 S. Grant Ave. He had been
in failing health several years. Born in Crawfordsville (1900 census says b Feb 1890), Mr.
Kennedy was the son of Henry and Mattie Wilkinson Kennedy. He was
a graduate of the Crawfordsville High School. For several years
he worked at the old match factory here. Since moving to
Indianapolis he had been associated with the PA RR. His father,
who also was associated with the Crawfordsville Match Company for
a number of years, was killed in an explosion at a match factory
in Roanoke, VA. A son, Robert also was killed in an accident.
Surviving are a son, John Kennedy, Indianapolis; a sister, Mrs.
Ruth bland Chicago Heights; and two nieces, Mrs. John Paligraf
and Mrs. Leo Thompson both of Crawfordsville. Funeral services
will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at Flanner & Buchanan Mortuary
in Indianapolis. Burial in the family lot at Oak Hill Saturday.
The funeral party is expected to arrive here about 1 p.m.
