Mrs. Martha E. Canine, 85, who lived here for 32 years, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Luster Manwaring at West Union at 3 o'clock Wed. afternoon. She had been in failing health and death was due to complications. Mrs. Canine was born May 9, 1861 in Montgomery county and was the daughter of Peter and Anna James. She was married to William Canine in November 1879. The deceased was a member of the Clinton Baptist Church before moving here. After the closing of the Waveland Baptist Church, Mrs. Canine became active in the Christian Church. She was also a member of the Royal Neighbors. Surviving are 4 daughters: Mrs. William Kline of Chicago; Mrs. Fred Rice of Crawfordsville; Mrs. Robert Davidson of Greensburg, and Mrs. Manwaring and four sons: Victor Canine of Cleveland, Ohio; Edgar Canine of Waveland; Reid Canine of Pamons, California and Stanley Canine of Bay St. Louis, Miss. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock at the Machledt Mortuary at Waveland with Rev. HH Elmore in charge. Friends may call at the mortuary after 4 Thursday afternoon. Burial will be in the Old Union Cemetery.
