Henry Hall

Waveland Independent
Waveland, Montgomery County, Indiana
Friday, April 17, 1931

Mr. and Mrs. Orville HALL were called to Little York in Washington County of last week by the death of his brother, Henry and James, the 8-year-old son of the latter, who were killed by a freight train on the B&O at Medora the previous day. Mr. Hall was going in his car from his home to that of a neighbor to return a large iron kettle. His four year old son was sitting in the kettle when the engine struck the car. The kettle was thrown a 100 feet and lit with the child still in it and practically unharmed. The other two were instantly killed and the car reduced to kindling. The accident occurred so near the home that the wife and 3 other children witnessed it. As this was the first time in 17 years that Mr. Hall had visited his parents and relatives in Washington County, they remained until Sunday. Orville says his Ford covered a wide territory around Salem and Brownstown. They left here at 9 o 'clock on Wednesday night and arrived at his father's place at 5 the next morning going by way of No. 43. They were so much impressed by the hills of that route that they came back by way of Columbus and Indianapolis. He has 3 brothers living.
