FAY HALL DIES IN LOS ANGELES - Man Born and Raised Here Was a Successful Newspaper Man

Fay Hall, formerly of Thorntown, died Monday morning at a hospital in Los Angeles, California after a short illness. Death was due to intestinal "flu" and operations performed early Monday for the relief of that affliction.

The first intimation that he was not in his usual good health came Saturday afternoon when a telegram was received that he was ill.

Early Monday a telegram came stating that he had been found necessary to remove the patient to a hospital from an emergency operation shorty after 2 o'clock Monday. A telegram came stating that he had died at 11:30 o'clock Monday.

Fay Hall was born near Thorntown, Ind., and there grew to manhood. When his aunt removed to Danville, Ill., after his cousin John H. Hall took charge of The Commercial News, he came to the city and became identified with the publication which was just then beginning its sensational growth.

Because of ill health, he left here and went to California taking service in the Los Angeles Times. He later was with the Herald and for some time past was managing the Alhambra branch of a Los Angeles paper. He lived at 505 East Liveoak Street, Alhambra. For several years he also had operated a big chicken ranch.
