Tihlman Howard Hale was b. near Ladoga, Oct. 28, 1845 and died Jan 28, 1900, aged 54 years and 3 months. He was the son of Daniel and Mary Hale. When his country was in danger he enlisted in the army Aug 15, 1862 in Co K 63d Indiana Vol. Inf and was discharged June 21, 1865. He was in a number of the hardest fought battles, Dallas, Resaca, Kennesaw and Franklin. He was a brave and gallant defender of his country. It was during and just after the battle of Franklin that he believed he contracted the disease that resulted in his death. After peace was restored he came home and in 1876 Feb 6 he was marr. to Miss Louisa Edwards. 8 children were b. to them, 4 of whom had preceded him to the better land. He was converted and united with the Mace Methodist Episcopal Church in 1875 during a meeting conducted by Rev JP Patch. His conversion was a bright one and he often related that part of his religious experience. He was faithful to all the services of the Church and had for a long time been a teacher in the Sun. school and will be greatly missed in every department of Church work. He was a member of the Abraham Lincoln Post Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) and was largely instrumental in keeping the rapidly decreasing membership organized. Death is rapidly thrusting the sickle into the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR). He had a large acquaintance and friends. The funeral services took place in Mace, conducted by Rev. HC Riley and burial was in the Knights of Pythias Cemetery He leaves a wife and four children.
