A grinding, head-on collision on US 36 Saturday resulted in the tragic ending to the lives of two people in this area. The accident occurred about 4 p.m. between Montezuma and Dana when the auto driven by Stanley (Dutch) GARRETT, 55 and Mrs. Ocy COLLIER, 60, of Dana crashed head-on. Mrs. Collier was enroute home from Vermillion Co. Hospital, Clinton where she worked as a nurse and Mr. Garrett was apparently heading east to Montezuma. There were no passengers in either vehicle nor known witnesses to the accident, so the exact cause remains a mystery. Mrs. Collier was reported to have died instantly; Mr. Garret died about 10 minutes following the crash. Both victims suffered crushed chests.
