Galeys 50th

The 17th of Feb was the 50th anniv. of the marr. ceremony of David and Sophia Galey, but owing to the sickness in the family, the event was not celebrated until Wed March 16 at which time there gathered together at the residence in Brown Twp about 40 persons, consisting of children, grandchildren and gr. grandchildren, nephews, nieces and neighbors. There was only one person present who was at the wedding 50 years ago that was Andrew Snyder who is in his 80th year, being the oldest man in the township. After a bountiful repast from a table groaning under an immense lot of good things of the land and we were gathered around, Uncle David remarked that he would stand it so he could be what was going on. After a few appropriate remarks by Samuel R. Fisher, the old people were presented with a rocking chair for each and invited to a seat after which Uncle David was present with a gold headed cane and Aunt Sophia with a gold thimble and other "presents." They express their heartfelt thanks for the presents and for the respect shown them in their declining years. It was a day well spent and will be remembered by all for many years to come.
