David E. ELMORE, 74, pioneer resident of this county, died Friday
morning at his home, 7 miles East of this city. Mr. Elmore had
been in critical condition for two weeks and had been in failing
health for the past year. He was the oldest resident of the
community in which he lived. Mr. Elmore was born March 22, 1853,
the son of Abaijah and Keziah Elmore. HIs entire life was spent
on the farm where he was born. He was married Nov 7, 1877 to
Alice M. Lemon, the daughter of David and Rosana Lemon. To this
union two children were born, Homer H. and Elsie E., who died at
the age of 21. The wife the son and two grandchildren survive.
Mr. Elmore united with the Kingsley Chapel Methodist Episcopal
Church in 1895. Later his membership was transferred to Mace.
Funeral services will be held from the home at 2 o'clock Sunday
afternoon with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. Rev. Grant Howard of
Lafayette will be in charge of the service.
