Mrs. Mary Forrest Shelley died Sunday night at Culver Hospital where she had been a patient 5 days. She had been a Crawfordsville resident since 1920. Mrs. Shelley was born Jan 7, 1879 the daughter of William Erskine and Almira Jane Edwards. On Jan 17, 1897, she married William Thomas Shelley who died on November 14, 1958. Surviving are two sons, Okla E and Robert J.; two daughters, Mrs. Jessie M.Boze, with whom Mrs. Shelly had been living, and Mrs. Beatrice Krodel; 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Two daughters and a son preceded her in death. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Bright Funeral Home with Rev. RL Covington officiating. Burial will be in the Masonic Cemetery.
[Notes: Actually, he did have a middle name -- William Henry Erskine, son of Michael Erskine and Rebecca Parks Erskine. Incidentally, the year of the marriage is one year off: according to the WPA transcription of Boone County's marriage records, Will and Forrest were married in 1898, not 1897.]
