Mary Davidson

Crawfordsville Weekly Journal

21 March 1902

Saturday morning at six o'clock at the home of her parents at 310 E. Pike Street, occurred the death of Mary Davidson, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. J. F. Davidson. Had she lived until June 23 she would have been 13. Not since she was vaccinated in January has Mary enjoyed her usual health. One week ago she was taken ill with inflammatory rheumatism which became complicated with pneumonia, the end coming this morning as stated. Her death comes as a sad surprise to a host of her friends who only a week ago were with her and who will sincerely mourn the loss of an unusually cheerful and companionable mate. Mary Davidson was a great favorite with all who knew her. She was an exceptionally bright child for her years, having spent a great deal of her time in reading the better class of literature and was far advanced for a child of her years. She was a very religious child, having always been a member of the First Methodist Church and constant attendant upon the Sunday school. For years she had made it a practice, each night before retiring to read a chapter of the bible to her younger brother. She was in the 8th grade in the city schools and was a general favorite with both . .... Services being conducted by Rev. SW Goss. Interment at Oak Hill.
