Yearyon - Mtt

Source: Crawfordsville Weekly Journal 18 May 1900 p 5
For many years Matt Yearyon had been one of the characters in and around Darlington, worse to himself than anyone else. His only fault was his love for whisky and his desire to drink it all.  All were surprised when word came that he had taken his life, as no one ever suspected that he ever cherished the idea, yet he did and planned it well and when found was dead.  His sister, Mrs. Charles Maguire took charge of the remains and on Sunday from her home a large concourse of people followed the remains to the Silas Peterson cemetery, where we can but say rest to his dust. As his life was a tempestuous one yet as we now say old Matt is dead we realize the face that when many of us come to die, if the truth could be told, worse people live in Darlington than old Matt.
