WINTER, Jesse, PO Darlington; Farmer; son of John and
Elizabeth Winter, natives of Pa; was b. in Harrison Co In 1809;
settled on sec 1 of this township (Union) in 1847; marr. Mary
Arehart in 1848; children: Jonathan, Sarah Eliz and Mary
Ellen.
In his son, Jonathan's entry in the Beckwith history, it tells Jesse was born in Harrison County, Indiana January 7, 1809 and died March 21, 1878 Montgomery County. He was a farmer all his life, but had a sawmill part of that time "in connection with his farm." He married Mary Airhart (born Jan 14, 1820 daughter of Peter Airhart, veteran of the War of 1812).
