Williamson - R.A.
Source: Zach, Karen Bazzani. Montgomery Medicine Men ... Crawfordsville: MCHS, 2002.
It is thought that Dr. Williamson's first name was Robert (possibly Richard), but in every source, he is always listed by initials only. It is known that he was born in Virginia and was in Darlington in the mid-1850s. After a dispute with Dr. Joseph Emmons, Dr. WIlliamson moved on to the Lebanon area where he remained several years. His office was on East Main Street in the town of Lebanon. He and wife, Ann had at least three children: William; Sarah and Richard. Dr. Williamson served in Co I, 10th Indiana Infantry as a private, was soon promoted to assistant surgeon and made a full surgeon on May 21, 1863. He is found as age 56 in Boone County, Center TOwnship 1870 census. Admitted to the Indiana State Medical Society in 1873, he is thought to have died (or perhaps moved, possibly to Cicero, Indiana) before 1901 as he is not in the Lebanon City Directory at that time.
