July 12, 1929- Browns Valley Rail Station
A hearing was held on Monday before Judge Jere West, of the public service commission, at the circuit court room in Crawfordsville on the proposition of discontinuing the Pennsylvania station at Browns Valley. They claim that there is not enough business done to pay for expense of keeping up the station. Edgar Pitts and Frank Wilkinson make talks against the proposition. The elevator there ships out a lot of stuff during the year, but it seems that railroads do not give a station credit for what is shipped out, but only on what is shipped in. This is just the contrary of the post office; our postmaster is rated on what he sends out. It would seem that the railroad would do the same thing so as to induce the agent to work for more freight shipments. But you never can tell what the Pennsylvania will do.
