Said to have practiced in Crawfordsville, having been listed as a Dr there by the 1882 Indiana State Board of Health. His mentors were (Edward) Cowan and (Samuel) Ensinger, according to the 1878 Beasley Directory.

Note: Since the publication of the above I have found that West married Letty Grahm in Boone County, Iowa on May 7, 1886 however this is listed as his 2nd marriage when he was 29 years old. He was born in Crawfordsville, Ind, which I had suspicioned and was listed as a Physician and Druggist Letty was also listed as being born in Crawfordsville and was age 2, and her 1st marriage. Her parents were Nathan L. Graham and Mary Beard. Rev. John Elliott married them in Angus, Iowa. This couple moved moved to Seattle, Washington where he was a practicing physician for many years, from at least 1910 until his death on 2 July 1933. His parents were Thoams Jefferson West and Mary Louise Lee.
