NEW ROSS – Funeral services were held in Walker Funeral Home at Jamestown today for James Richard “Dick” Thompson, 79, of New Ross, operator of a restaurant at Jamestown for several years, who died Saturday morning in Veterans Hospital at Indianapolis. Mr. Thompson was a member of the Shrine at Indianapolis, Brookside F & AM at Indianapolis and the Scottish Rite. He served in the Canadian Army during World War I. He was born April 15, 1894, at Toronto, Canada. He was married on March 5, 1927, to Lillian Davis in Kentucky. Surviving are a son, William H. of Indianapolis; a daughter, Mrs. William C. Dressel of Elk Grove, Ill., and a brother, A. E. Thompson of Indianapolis. Burial was in Washington Park at Indianapolis. – jlr
