Daniel S. Morris, historian of the Snyder family furnishes the following regarding the late Jeremiah P. Snyder and his family:
The grandfather of Jeremiah P. Snyder was born on the Rhine, Germany, and settled in Philadelphia before the Revolutionary war. His son, Jacob, grandfather of the deceased, moved to Butler county, Ohio, and settled on Elk creek, 3 miles west of Middletown, in the year 1807. The grandfather was born near Sunburg, Northumberland county, Pa., March 3, 1764, and died June 18, 1833. His good wife, Saloma, was born July 8, 1765, and died May 30, 1826. These grandparents are buried in the old Lutheran grave yard at Elk creek, Ohio. David Snyder and his wife journeyed overland in the early days to Indiana and settled three miles west of Crawfordsville, on Black creek, on Oct. 18, 1833. Jeremiah P. Snyder was then six months old. For 79 years, "Uncle" Jere has lived among us and with his passing this generation, '10 brothers and sisters of his family' have answered the final call.
Thanks so much to Cheryl for this one - you rock, girly :)
