After a service of 35 years, William M. Smith, general freight agent
of the Monon in this city, has resigned to accept a position with
another local firm, details of which will be announced within a few
days. William O. Hepley, Monon agent at Crawfordsville and a former
Bloomingtonian, will take the place made vacant by Mr. Smith. "Billy"
Smith, as he is familiarly known by his host of friends, has almost
grown up with the railroad business in this city and is one of the best
known employees on this division. He was passenger agent here for some
time and also acted as agent at Bedford and Crawfordsville. He was
always accommodating with the public and painstaking in his work in
which he took great price. All the employees in the freight office here
are unanimous in their praise of his kind treatment. His many friends
will wish him continued success. Mr. Hepley and family arrived this
afternoon from Crawfordsville to make this their future home. Mr. Hepley
was succeeded at Crawfordsville by C. A. Coins of LaCrosse, Wis.
