Dr.
John Frank Simison, Romney, Ind. died October 11, at St. Elizabeth
hospital Lafayette, following an operation for apendicitis, the victim
of the disease for several years. The doctor was born at Romney
fifty-nine years ago and grew up there, and where for a number of years
he practiced medicine with his, honored father Dr. John Simison. His
early education was obtained in the public hools and later he attended
DePauw University, from which he graduated in 1879 with the degreeā¢ of
A.B. While in college he joined the Sigma Chi fraternity. He then
attended Rush Medical College, from which he graduated in 1881 and
immediately entered practice with his father at Romney. The same year he
was granted the degree of M.A., from his alma mater. Dr. Simison was a
member of the Methodist Episcopal church and a most loyal supporter of
her enterprises, especially DePauw University, in which all his family
participate.
Every worthy cause received substantial consideration
from him. He was one of the largest landholders n Tippecanoe county In
1908 he represented his confrenece in theGneral Conference of the
Methodist Episcopal church. He served the legistlatiure from 1907 to
1911. For many years he was a trustee in Depauw University. He was
married December 27, 1897 to Miss Jessie Hornbeck of Crawfordsville, who died March 11 1908. He married Miss Olive O. Neal October 24, 1909 and she as his widow surves him.
