Mr. William R. Sanford, is now one of the oldest settlers of Jefferson Twp, Boone County, Ind. He was born at Harrodsburg, Mercer County, Kentucky the oldest town in the state on Feb 13, 1794. When that old state was near a wilderness, he came here, living at the same place 45 years ago that he now owns. Wolves, deer, bear and wild animals were plenty; old bruin had his home in the swamps and jungles of the forest. But now all of the species named are extinct. The old gentlemen belongs to the Old Baptist Church and has been a member for 50 years and is still steadfast in his faith. He is spry and hearty and can eat and sleep like a child and is thankful to his God. kbz
