Peterman - Clarence

Clarence Peterman, of Mace has had a large number of
postal cards printed offering a substantial reward to anyone meeting his
divorced wife "Siphonia." Siphonia it will be remembered, kidnapped
Claren's son, little Grover Cleveland Peterman some months ago and
departed. Clarence has endeavored ever since to discover her whereabouts
but in vain.
Note: Grover Monroe Peterman (not Grover Cleveland) was born in the Mace area 18 November 1888 and married Hazel Leeper in Marion County, Indiana 20 May 1916 (Bk 85 p 574). Sophronia Ann Caine took Grover to Indianapolis. Clarence remarried twice, to Rosa Spohr (daughter Fanny) and Laura Decker, but always desired to be with his son. He did find him with his mother about two and a half years after the postcards were printed and distributed. Whether they became close or not, don't know, sorry but it is known that Grover was small, about 5'4" had brown eyes and brown hair and was dark complected. A bit chubby, I imagine at 204#. When he registered for the WWII draft, he lived at 2205 Kansas Avenue, Kansas Cirty, Missouri and is listed as having scars on his left ankle and right hip. He lived to be quite an old man, dying in Kansas City. His first wife Hazel Leeper must have passed away and he remarried 1 Jan 1932 to Berniece Freestone - there were at least three children by the his first wife, Arthur; Mary and Bernice.
