 1424--GEORGE MANGUS PEFLEY, (son of John B. and Sally Mangus Peffley ) married June 2nd.,  1870 at Ladoga, MARY HANNAH BOSSECK, born Mar. 5th, 1850, died  Sept. 18th, 1925, at Parsons, Kan. (dau. of CHRISTIAN PETER and  ELIZABETH (Betsey) (Rettinger) BOSSECK) (see No. 663).
 
 George and his wife were members of the Brethren Church. They  moved to Kansas in a covered wagon in 1871 settling in Wilson  Co., near Fredonia. In 1880 they moved to Labette Co., buying a  farm in the Stover neighborhood, east of Altamont. They lived  there for 21 years and then moved to Parsons, Kan.

Labette county lost another p ioneer citizen in the death of George M. Pefley, 88, who died yesterday af ternoon at his home, 3212 Main. Mr. Pefley had been in feeble health for s ome time. He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Rose McElwain of McCune, Mrs. James Cook of Altamont, Mrs. A. E. Brane of Galena and Mrs. Hatt ie Radabaugh of the home address; one son, Dan Pefley, route 2, Parsons and several grandchildren including Arthur Pefley, 208 N. 28th. Mrs. Pefley died Sept. 18, 1925 The funeral will be held at the Church of the Breth ren at 1:30 Tuesday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. John S. Clark and ass isted by he pastor of the church, the Rev. C. Ernest Davis and interme nt in Elston Cemetery. Mr. Pefley was born Dec. 9, 1846, on a farm near La doga, Ind., where he grew to manhood. He was united in marriage to Mary Bo sseck, June 2, 1870, and a few months thereafter emigrated in a covered wa gon to Kansas settling near Fredonia where they purchased wild prairie la nd and built a home. In 1880 they moved to Labette county, locating in t he Stover neighborhood near Altamont and resided there for 21 years. Th ey later located on farms in the vicinity of Parsons and moved to Parso ns in 1911 and have resided at the home Mr. Pefley built at 3212 Main sin ce that time. Mr. Pefley had been a consistent member of the Church of t he Brethren since early manhood and by his upright life and character ma de scores of friends wherever he lived. He was a splendid citizen and wi ll be greatly missed by his church and the community. Arrangements a re in charge of the Martin funeral home.
