John T. McJimsey, a son of John M. McJimsey, an old pioneer of
this County is succeeding admirably at Vincennes and reflects
credit on the Wingate neighborhood where he was raised. The
following from the Vincennes Sun will interest his many friends
here: "John T. McJimsey, senior member of the McJimsey Buggy Company has
purchased Green's opera house and is now in possession of that
well known and valuable property. The building was erected in
1885 at a cost of $36,000 by William Greene, whose name it has
borne and who has owned it ever since. The price paid by Mr. McJimsey was only $15,000 and it is considered a great bargain by competent
judges of the value of such property. The transfer was made by
Charles McCord as trustee for William Greene. Vincennes theater
goers and the public generally are glad to see the property pass
into the hands of Mr. McJimsey who is an active, enterprising,
up-to-date business man and McJimsey Opera House as it will now be
known will soon be as popular as it was under the management of
Frank Greene. - typed by kbz
