The Purple Heart Medal has been awarded to Sgt Charles E.
McCORMICK, son of Mr. and Mrs. William A. McCormick of Waveland, Indiana for wounds received on Jan 28, 1945 while in combat against
the Japanese on Luzon. Sgt. McCormick, infantry squad leader in
the ? infantry (Winged Victory) Div. Has since been returned to
duty. During 33 months overseas, the 43rd Div has participated in
four campaigns; Guadacanal, Northern Solomons, New Guinea and
Luzon.
