Mullen - John W.
Source: Crawfordsville Review 6 May 1909 p 1
In recognition of the bravery of John W. Mullen, the Darlington ditcher who risked his life to rescue Coroner Ivory Tolle of Lebanon from a watery grave in the raging torrent of Sugar Creek last Saturday, friends are raising a fund for his benefit. The fund was started at Lebanon by friends and acquaintances of Tolle. Mr. Mullen is a poor man. It is understood efforts will also be made to secure for him a Carnegie hero medal. -kz
