Moore - Charles M.

The Conservation Club Fish Fry given at the school gym last Friday night was a pronounced success. Along with a good feed, there was a reel of the news high spots of 1945 and a fishing picture that showed the catching of nearly every kind of fish from sharks to brook trout. The audience was also favored with pictures of the President and family, Charles M. Moore, taken in Northern Michigan. The profit for the club from the fish fry amounted to $85.50. There was also 35 new members added to the club membership roll. Mr. Moore promises a variety of activities and entertainment such as a shooting range for rifles, traps for shot gun shooting subject to the approval of the members at the next meeting. - transcribed by kbz
The CC was very popular until about 1962 or so. Think it was still there but not as active after Charlie Moore got older and not as involved in the group. LOVE some pics of the CC camp.
Also, this is a kind of fun (although NOT at the time) story about both Charlie More and the Conservation Club. My dad was an extremely hard worker and he had nothing as a child. Although he didn't just hand us money and we all worked for a young age, he did spoil us with whatever he could do. He made a huge tree-house up on four telephone poles, used that they were replacing (wow, would I love to have a pic of that, too) that was panneled about 3/4 up on the house part and had a roof. We had a radio, I believe carpet (he was a carpet layer so that was fairly easy) on the floor, a seat/two and it was just awesome. He also made mom and me a teeter totter, swing sets and the ultimate was he dug and cemented us an awesome swimming pool. We had so much fun for two years but the third summer when we got home from vacation at the end of June, we found FISH, yes, FISH in the pool. Oddly, or not so oddly, they were the same kind as Charlie had ordered and put in the CC pond. My dad was very hot, but we at that point, all worked and it was probably the last summer we really would have used it much, anyway.
A very civic minded man, for sure, but did like it HIS way.
