J.W. MILLIGAN, merchant, Waveland, was born in Brown Township,  Montgomery Co, Indiana, Feb 8, 1837, and is the son of John  Milligan, who came to the county in 1838. Mr. Milligan has been a  resident of the county all his life, except what time he spent in  the cause of his country, having enlisted in 1861 in Co. H, 38th  reg. Ind. Vols, and served 3 years and two months. He  participated in the battles of Stone River, Dug Gap, Chickamauga,  Mission Ridge, Buzzard's Roost, Hoover's Gap and a great many  other battles of less note. Was also in the Atlantic campaign,  and after serving out his time of enlistment he was honorable  discharged at Kenesaw Mountain, and returned home. Soon after he  embarked in the mercantile business at Waveland, where he has  since resided. in 1865 he marr. Miss Josie HANNA, daughter of William  Hanna, one of the old and respected pioneers of Montgomery  County.
