He lived in Waveland 30 years  and followed the trade of a jeweler.  He was living at the  Central House in Ladoga but took his meals at the home of Mrs.  McQuown.  The day before his death he complained of "blind  staggers."  Mr. McQuown stayed with him until bedtime.  Later in  the night, he with Dr. Peacock were called, but were unable to  give any relief.  He died in Mr. McQuown's arms while being  helped into bed.  He leaves a widow, Mrs. Elizabeth Miller of  Chicago.  He was insured in the AOUW for $2000.  He was a  skillful mechanic, but his intemperate habits prevented his  business success and eventually caused his death.
