Mahorney, Z.F., son of Bennett and Mary Mahorney, natives of Shelby County, Kentuckyy was born in Washington County, Indianain 1866 and in in 1822, moved to the Ohio River with his father, who was accidentlly drowned in 1823. His mother moved to Oldham Co, Ky where she died 1834. Mr.Mahorney. lived with his grandmother in Shelby Co Ky till 1836 when he located in this county Dec 1, 1840.; Married Miss Catharine, daughter of Jacob and Salome Harshberger, natives of Va, who settled in this  township, 1831 and had 8 children; Lydia, now Mrs. Wm. Myers; Samuel; Catharine, now Mrs Marhorney, born. Dec 31, 1821; Salome, now Mrs. MB Anderson; Elizabeth, now Mrs. Samuel P. Frame; Jacob M.; Ann,  Mrs. Wm. Frame; Mary, Mrs. D. Himes. Mr. & Mrs. Mahorney had 11 children: Jacob W born. Jan 10, 1844; Zachariah born March 14, 1846; Sophia A Oct 13, 1848, now Mrs. DA Myers of Kansas; Byron T, Feb 8, 1850; John  C. Dec 19, 1851; James MP March 3, 1854; Phoebe Lee, May 23, 1856; Samuel D July 7, 1858; Mary L, June 22, 1860; Martha J. April 1, 1862; Daniel Milton Jan 7, 1866 Their
present farm was located,  and improvement begun in 1841; a view of their beautiful home being in the Atlas. Mrs. Mahorney is a German Baptist; Mr. Mahorney is a Univeralist and also a member of Ridgley Lodge No 61, IOOF [Independent Order of Odd Fellows]
