Daniel P. Keene stayed in Crawfordsville but a few months, long enough to lose his first wife, Catherine Quaintance (she died October 4, 1885). He practiced in Fountain (Attica) and Tippecanoe (Americus) Counties and dissatisfied here, moved on to Marion, Indiana. He was the father of at least one daughter, Nellie and a son, A.B. who also became a doctor. Although he remarried and practiced in Marion where he was well known and loved, his body was brought back to our fair city and buried in Oak Hill Cemetery. He died July 24, 1902, aged 82 years, 11 months 7 days. His birth took place in Reading, Pennsylvania, Aug 17, 1819; his father, J.J. Keene, having been a native of England and his mother of Glasgow, Scotland. His tombstone indicates that he was a Doctor in Co. H, 40th Regiment, Indiana Volunteers in the Civil War.
