Johnson - John B.

Source: Zach, Karen Bazzani.  Montgomery Medicine Men ... Crawfordsville: Montgomery County Historical Society, 2002.

Little has been found out about this man, other than he was born in Ohio, may have lived in Alma, Illinois and was an Assistant Surgeon in the Civil War.  He may have graduated from Asbury (now DePauw) College in Greencastle.  It is known that he was in the 1850 Coal Creek Township census, Montgomery County with wife, Sarah and children, John and Lettie.  Sarah died shortly after this census and he found with his second, much younger wife, Rebecca with new children: Preston, William and Mary in the Linden area in the 1860 census.  Again, trying to piece together the "common name" folks has been and always will be a hard genealogical task.  He is not found in the 1870 census or other records thereafter; perhaps he moved out of the county?

As we are moving this site to a different (WebSiteX5) program to keep up with technology, I find a bit more on this Dr. My hunch is correct that he moved from our county but it seems that he also has changed careers.
