Gerald W. Isaacs, 19, son of Mr. & Mrs. William Isaacs of Waveland was grad. fro Purdue Univ with a degree of bachelor of science in electrical engineering, Sunday afternoon at commencement exercises held in the Hall of Music. Isaacs was on the distinguished student rating list but found time for many campus activities. These included serving on the editorial staff of "The Purdue Engineer" and being a member of the Purdue Military and Varsity bands for 3 years.
He held ranks of Corp, staff Sgt; Tech Sgt and band quartermaster. Isaacs was also a member of the American Institute of Engineers, the Amer. Soc of Agric Eng. the Purdue Independent Assoc and the Student CoOp association. Isaacs enlisted and served in the Navy as a radar, tech for 13 months. Isaacs began his work Mon. in research on the Purdue Univ staff for the summer term. In Sept, he will reenter the univ as a student for additional training in eng. Mrs. Minnie Johnson his grandmother from Montezuma; Mrs. Norma Jean Johnson, a cousin from Veedersburg and Mr. & Mrs. William P. Isaacs and son, John attended the impressive commencement ceremonies. - kbz
