PO Mortin, Merchant; was born Jan 3, 1844 in Montgomery County, Indiana son of James M. born in KY in 1800 and Sarah Wilcox Hanna, born in Shelby Co KY 1806; settled in this township Sec 1 in 1866. Married Dec 5, 1855 in Monroe Township, Mary F. Nelson; has had 3 children Cora (deceased), Hallie and Nellie. He formerly was a farmer but is now an enterprising merchant and Postmaster of the village of Morton. Owns 201 1/2 acres of well-improved land, is a member of the ME Church and deeply interested in the moral and spiritual progress of mankind. Is identified with the Republican party. - typed by kbz
