Robert H. Green of Waynetown has confessed to stealing the McCabe
team of horses that disappeared from Williamsport a few days ago. The
horses were traced into Montgomery County as has been the case several
times this spring and there the trail was lost. The owners, at a
venture, went to Indianapolis and there Green was found in charge of the
horses. He was put under arrest but gave the name of Frank Ross. On
Saturday he gave his true name and plead guilty. He will get from one to
14 years in the pen. He says that he can give no reason for taking the
horses. He is a successful farmer and seems to be in no need of money
although it is reported he has been dealing on the Board of Trade and
has had heavy losses. He owns a large farm and is VP of the Waynetown
Bank. He confessed to stealing 9 horses in all. He shipped the horses to
Indianapolis where he is well known as a large shipper of stock. So far
he has not implicated anyone else but the police think that he belongs
to a gang. - typed by kbz
