Only a pile of rubbish remains of the old GLOVER house, once one of the fine houses of the county. It was built in 1849 or 1850, according to Robert Glover. His father, Newton Glover, was the builder. In those days timber was plenty and there was enough in the house to have built two according to modern ideas. Robert Glover was born in this house. He remembers when the house now occupied by Charles S. Kritz was built. His mother, Mrs. Matilda Glover sent him over to get some kindling. He crawled under a work bench to get some particularly nice shavings, and a little dog asleep there waked up and grabbed his nose, leaving scars that still persist. It is a pity to see an old house that was once a home, torn down but it had become an eyesore and fire danger. The material was sold to a farmer near Ladoga.
