M.L. Giltner, druggist, Waveland, was born in Montgomery County, Indiana, March 28, 1842. He is the son of Abraham B. and Nancy (Liter) Giltner, who were natives of Fayette CO, Ky and removed to Montgomery Co In in an early day and settled near Browns' Valley, where they lived till their deaths; he d. July 19, 1873, in his 70th year; she, April 23, 1846 in her 43rd year. The subj. of this sketch has been a resident of this county all his life except 3 years he was in the army. He enlisted in 1860 40th Reg Co C Ind Vol. Inf. and after serving about one year in that regiment he was transferred to the signal corps, in which he served the rest of his time. He has served the people of his township as trustee for 6 years, is a member of the Masonic fraternity and a staunch republican. In 1879 he married Miss Annie E. BENHAM, daughter of Benj.
