Although Mr. JW FRISZ has never fully recovered from his automobile accident, his unexpected death at 10 minutes after 10 yesterday morning came as a shock to the community with which he has been identified for so many years. He was 76 in March, and was born in Mt. Vernon, Indiana the son of John and Magdalena GATZ Frisz. He moved with his parents to Bowling Green KY where his youth was spent. He came to Terre Haute Indiana in 1881 and there married Elizabeth KINTZ who died in 1919. In 1928 he married Mrs. Pearl WHELAN of Crawfordsville. She was fatally injured in a car wreck near St. Petersburg Fla. March 2, dying March 17. He ran a grocery business in TH and was connected with successful business enterprises before taking over The Shades from The Shades of Death Mineral Springs Corporation successor to Dr. Moore. He is survived by 8 children: Wilford and Fabian in Clermont, Fla; Mrs. JW Hauck in Evansville, Blanche, Paul and Leo in Terre Haute and Ethel and Clarence at The Shades and by two step daughters, Doris and Florence Whelan of Crawfordsville. The funeral will be from St. Ann's Catholic Church, TH on Saturday Morning. - typed by kbz

A banquet was given at the Cuppy Hotel on Wednesday at noon by the Veterans of the Pa. Road, in honor of JA Spruhan, retiring agent here. Among those present were: Trainmaster Henderson & wife, Asst Trainmasters Connor & Behmer and Mrs. Behmer; Mr. Behmer is also state senator; Supervisor of Agnets Byrune, Chief of Detectives, WQ Oneal; Division Freight Agent Montgomery & wife; Chief Train Dispatcher Day and wife; Tom Perkins, Pres. and WE Smith, sec. of the Veterans' organization; WH Thompson of Indianapolis; Agent Thompson of LaPaz; Mahoney of Crawfordsville; Stair of Frankfort and Kelley of Darlington; Abraham Smock of Guion; and others whose names we did not learn. Chief Clerk Gaynor of Logansport who was to have been present, died the previous evening. The eats were of the kind that has made the Cuppy Hotel famous. A number of talks were made by the visitors to which Mr. Spruhan responded in his characteristic manner. he was presented with a handsomely fitted up traveling bag. In the afternoon cars furnished by Commercial Club took the visitors to the Shades where Manager Frisz gave them a hearty welcome and much exercise, ending a perfect day. - typed by kbz
