P. Lewis FISHER, druggist, Crawfordsville, was born Nov 28, 1852 in Aurora, Indiana. His father, Peter Fisher, was a native of Alsace, France and came to America in 1840, and his mother, Catharine (Miller) Fisher, was b. in Bavaria and came to America in 1847. Lewis attended school until 12. In 1865 he came with his parents to Crawfordsville. Here he barbered for a time, then became clerk in the drug store of EJ Binford & Brother, with whom he stayed 3 years, then worked one year with James Patterson in the jewelry business. Leaving the jewelry he returned to his former position in the drug store, remaining some 10 years. Here he received a thorough and practice education in his branch of trade, and being quite competent to manage business for himself, he became assoc. with JB Breaks, Jr. in the drug business. The partnership continued one and a half years, when Mr. Fisher became sole proprietor. He is now doing a trade of about $12,000 per year. Mr. Fisher is yet a young man, but has made a good start in theworld by his own efforts, and should be encouraged. He is careful and proficient in his business, and keeps, emphatically, the "people's store." He was married Nov 23, 1876 to Mary SULLIVAN, daughter of Daniel and Catharine (O'Connor) Sullivan. She was born Nov 9, 1854 in LaFayette, Indiana. They have one child, Walter G, born Dec 23, 1878 in Crawfordsville. Both are Catholics. Mr. Fisher owns his store, stock and dwelling. - typed by kbz
