Abraham F. EVANS

Source: Zach, Karen Bazzani.  Montgomery Medicine Men ... Crawfordsville, Indiana: MCHS, 2002.

Dr. A.F. Evans is found in the 1860 Coal Creek Township (Pleasant Hill area) census as age 24 born in Ohio with wife, Eliza J. also born in Ohio.  He isnot found afterwards in Montgomery County records as far as I could find.

Note: Additional Information found 12-8-2016 while remaking all the pages into a new program since my old Dreamweaver program was like Version 3.

I found that Abraham F. Evans was the twin brother of William H. Evans who became a Hospital Steward during the Civil War in the Hospital department, mustereing in 89th Regiment, Ohio Infantry Company: F&S. He was of Allopathic beliefs and entered and graduated from the University of Wooster Medical Department, Cleveland.  He also furthered his studies at Charity Hospital Medical College, 1866, (G).
William fathered 8 children of his own (and was one of 8) and also had twin sons, Sherman and Sheridan, and you can guess where those names originated.  One became a doctor, studying under his father. Their parents were Andrew and Mary.  After the Civil War, William remained in Brown County, Ohio until his death occured

Right after the 1860 census, Andrew F. Evans moved with his wife,  Eliza J. Kimball.  They had two daughters, Luna and Anna whom Eliza was carrying at the time of Abraham's death.  He died 14 May 1862 in Tonica, LaSalle County, Illinois and she lived (died 6 July 1913) another 51 years, never marrying again.  Anna died at age 21, Luna the next year after her mother died.  Neither had children. Sad.
