Mr. and Mrs. Elby Emmert of Waveland celebrated their 50th anniversary Sunday at Milligan Park with immediate families. Elby Emmert was married to Ada Bollman in Crawfordsville Aug 8, 1906. At the noon hour Paul Emmert, their son, returned thanks. A beautifully decorated cake, baked for the occasion was presented by Mrs. Violet Overstreet. Guests were Mr. & Mrs. Elza Bollman, Mooresville; Mr. & Mrs. Roy Bollman and son, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Thompson and Mr. & Mrs. Elbert Durham and grandson and Mrs. Eula Bollman of Crawfordsville. Miss Doris Finch of Indianapolis; Mr. & Mrs. Dennis Finch and daughter, Mrs. Stella Finch; Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Perkins and family of Lebanon; Mr. & Mrs. Morris Finch and family, Waynetown; Mr. & Mrs. Jimmie Wright, New Market and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Emmert and Dean of Waveland. -- typed by kbz

On Thursday evening Nov 14, friends, neighbors and well wishers met at the Waveland Methodist Church with well filled baskets to honor 3 Golden Wedding couples. All 3 are members of the church and reached their 50th anniversary in 3 consecutive months. August, September and October of this year. They are Mr. & Mrs. Elby Emmert; Mr. & Mrs. Guy Durham and Mr. & Mrs. Homer Robison. However, on account of illness, Mr. and Mrs. Robison were unable to attend. In the receiving line with the honor guests were Rev. and Mrs. Morris and Mr. and Mrs. Alonzo Deere who will observe their Golden in December. These were later seated at the honor table which was decorated with gold-colored place mats, gold-colored candle sticks with white candles and place cards which held bride and groom favors and gold ribbons. In the center of the table was a large white cake, baked by Mrs. Myrtle Banta and decorated in white and gold colored icing by Mrs. Violet Overstreet. The reception room was decorated with a large white bell with white and gold streamers. The registration table adorned with bride and groom dolls was in charge of Dean Emmert, Judy Banta and David Rafferty. Pamela Sharp with a bride doll on her table, had charge of the favors. Other tables were decorated with bride and groom dolls and white candles in crystal holders. After a beautiful meal a program was given with Mrs. TS Banta acting as toastmistress and consisting of reading by TS Banta. That Girl, solo by Mrs. Victor Pence, When You and I Were Young Maggie reading by Mrs. Reiter; Just Before Thanksgiving duet by Mr. and Mrs. Paul Emmert in costume; Put on Your Old Grey Bonnet, reading by TS Banta; Mother Tells Her Story by Elgar A. Guest; solo by Mrs. Pence Memories; Mrs. Mildred Evans was the accompanist. Guest books were presented to the honor couples by Machledt & Servies. Remarks were given by Rev. Morris, pastor of the church and he also pronounced the benediction. It was a memorable occasion and all congratulated the couples and wished them many more years of happiness together. Committee in charge included Mrs. TS Banta; Mrs. Virginia Sharpe; Mrs. Myrtle Banta; Mrs. Violet Overstreet and Mrs. Naomi Moser assisted by other members of the church.
