Edgerly - George W.
GEORGE W. EDGERLY

It is not known for certain whether, "Docor Edgerly who ministered to the afflicted for a time in the 850s and was a man of notoriety, but for some reason brushed the clay from his brogans and passed to mystery," was Dr. George W. Edgerly, born about 1830 in Massacusettse and who lived in Muncie in 1860 or Dr. George W. Edgerly born about 1803 in New Hampshire and living in Boone County that census year.
Also, it is not known whether two two George Edgerly's (not a common name) are related, but they could indeed be a father and son. One source states it is the younger George who lived here. I tend to think it would be the one in Boone County since it is closer.
At any rate, the younger George was an Assistant Surgeon in the Civil War (8th Infantry) where he was 1st Lt. in Company S, and in the service for three months before he died November 14, 1861. He was a graduate of Cleveland Medical College in 1854 and Brown University as well. His partner was supposed to have been a Dr. Ferguson in 1849 (Delaware County), but I could find none of that name.
Certainly, it would be interesting to be able to tie these two men togther someday!
