Quietly ___ Col. S. W. Durham passed out of the present world into the eternal at his home in this city, Sunday May 2 at 1:30 p.m. He worked down town Saturday. He was apparently __ as )) Sunday up to the very moment of his death. He was 92 years old in April. He came to Iowa in 1840 and has been one of its honored citizens ever since. He lived a ___ life. His mother? Was left all the __ __ at __ country’s tiny ___ and truth. His wife died ___ ago. One son, Jeffery __ gave his life for his country in the war of the 60s. Two sons, Benjamin of Minneapolis and Canfield ? ___ and five ? daughters, Mrs. __ Truside? Of Morehead, Miss Viola, Mary of Washington, D__ __ and Marion survive. Col. Durham was a native of Indiana. His north place was Vallonia. Became ___ in 1840 and located in Barrian? Township. He came to Marion in 1847 and resided here until his death. He was universally esteemed. He was a government surveyor ___. He was Sheriff of the county in 1846. He was Surveyor of the county several times and a member of the Constitutional convention of the state. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday at the home at 2:30 p.m. AM Secrist, president of the ___ Old Settlers Association will ___ to attend. ___ Registrar. Col.
