DORSETT, Abijah, P.O. Mount Meridian, Farmer, Sec 5 was born in Chatham Co NC 15 miles W of Petersboro Nov 2, 1820; settled in this county Mill Creek Twp, Sec 18 in 1842. Was married Jan 31, 1842 in this township to Mary Jones (born Wythe Co VA Oct 21, 1820) daughter of Lewis Jones, a native of Va; children were born as follows: James M. born June 1, 1845 and Henry P. May 12, 1847 both died in infancy; Solomon E died Sept. 7, 1854; Robert W. born Jan 31, 1852; Martha M. born Dec 2, 1853; Martin F born march 4, 1845; Delila E born April 11, 1858 died Aprl 1876; Joseph W born April 27, 1862. Mr. Dorsett's parents came to this county in an early day; his father, Duth Dorsett, was a native of NC being born there 1792; his mother, Rachel was the daughter of James Edwards, an Englishman, they had a large family -- 13 children -- of whom Mr. Dorsett was 4th. They are now dead but won for themselves a prominent place among the county families. Their son Abijah now owns 270 acres of well-improved land.
