Monday was the 40th anniversary of the marriage of Mr. & Mrs. John L. Dietrich, and they celebrated the occasion by entertaining a number of friends at dinner. They have been residents of Waveland for 35 years and mighty good citizens, so that they have a host of friends here who hope to see them celebrate their golden wedding. -- kbz

DIETRICH, J.L., proprietor of hotel, Waveland, was born in Dauphin Co, PA March 13, 1837. At the age of 18 he served an apprenticeship as carriage smith. In 1859 he marr. Miss Rebecca MILLER, a native of Daughin Co, Pa. In 18 64 he removed to Waveland. He served in the late rebellion in the 67th and 46th Pa regulars and was in the battle of Gettysburg. He is a member of the Masonic fraternity and a staunch republican.-- kbz
